The Kentucky Derby hits Woodstock. Bonanza. Eureka!
An announcement by the McHenry County Sheriff's Department informed readers this week that the tens of thousands of dollars poured down the drains at 2200 N. Seminary have bought them an award.
MCSD must now have three framed certificates lined up on some wall, inside the palace, that indicate "simultaneous accreditation" (even the wording is wrong) has happened. Stop the presses! What are they?
CALEA - Commission on the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies
CAC - Commission on Accreditation for Corrections of the American Correctional Association's Commission
NCCHA - National Commission on Correctional Healthcare
They forgot two important sets of letters: COST and WASTE
Do you suppose that, some within the thick three-ring binders with the standards for those organizations, there might be requirements that the Sheriff's Department main high standards among employees and strictly discipline employees who get caught driving drunk or who fraternize with inmates (inmates being defined as prisoners who are still locked up (no hugging and kissing the prisoners)) or who are caught up in domestic violence problems?
Is it a requirement to have a certain number of bad apples, before you can win the Triple Crown?
Of course, now will follow the prize of a trip to Charlotte, N.C., a nice place to be in June. Who will go to that? What will that trip cost taxpayers? Will it be Nygren's "swan song"? Will he fly on south from there, never to return to McHenry County?
