The Management Services Committee of the McHenry County Board got it right yesterday, when it did not move forward with further consideration of putting forward a referendum for County residents to elect the Chairman of the County Board.
Thank you!
Now toss that idea completely into the trash can and get on with anything that is important.
First, this issue has absolutely nothing to do with the issue on the November 2012 ballot about electing a County Executive. That too was a dumb idea, and voters correctly squashed it. Some had tried to muddy the waters back then by suggesting that voting down a County Executive meant favoring the popular election of the Chairman.
The November vote had nothing to do with it.
I couldn't even stomach the whole article in the morning's paper, but I'll save it for another day.
No Special Meeting is needed. Nothing is needed. Get on with important work or go home!
The Committee made the right decision. Contact the Committee and thank them. Email addresses are on the County website at co.mchenry.il.us
