Concealed Carry - how refreshing

Yesterday I had occasion to call the North Carolina State Highway Patrol with a question about concealed carry in North Carolina. My call was pleasantly answered, and I was re-directed to the Attorney General's Office, where I left a message.

A short time later I received a return call from a woman there, and she listened carefully and answered all my questions.  After explaining that I held a concealed-carry permit in South Carolina and had read the booklet from the N.C. Attorney General's office about concealed carry, I asked if there were any quirks that I ought to know about. I had heard something about the carrying of a loaded, concealed firearm by an out-of-state permitholder.

She answered my questions (no quirks) and spoke quite openly with me while keeping to the law itself. North Carolina also allows Open Carry.

I told her that I frequently travel by motorcycle and I was concerned that my holster might become visible under my jacket or extend below the bottom of the jacket, while I was riding. No problem.

The N.C. Attorney General's booklet even suggests to a motorist who gets stopped that he keep his hands on the steering wheel and inform an officer that he has a permit and is carrying, and then not to reach for his wallet without the approval or direction of the officer.

When I mentioned that I had lived in Illinois (Land of the Gun-Unfriendly), I think she understand why I was still a little gunshy (no pun intended).

A person carrying a firearm cannot create panic in the public. I mentioned the Madison 5 to her (remember those five men who were enjoying lunch at a Madison Culver's?). She said it would be up to the investigating officer but, if the permitholder is not creating a problem or a scene and is merely legally carrying his firearm, there should not be a problem. She added, "Just use common sense."

What? No profiling???

I received this from a trusted friend. Look what is happening right here in the USA; for example, in Detroit, where the Muslim population is reported to have taken over part of the city.

Folks-this is an absolute must read!  If you agree and are disturbed help us wake up America-please.
Muslims are not peaceful because every single one of them read the Koran, which tells them “Kill the Infidels” !

Below you will see why they will not quit until they conquer…. It’s up to us to get the word out.

WE, THE STUPID

The war started in the 7th century and lasted through the 17th. I would contend it never stopped but historically the facts below are correct. This is why I choke when I hear someone say we will defeat or contain these Islamic terrorists in a few years or even 30 years as recently stated by Leon Panetta.

If the latest batch of murders, beheadings, and killing of innocent Christians has shocked you, maybe you should read this compilation of historical facts about the hatred of Muslims.

WE, THE STUPID

This is all factually (and historically) correct - and verifiable:

In 732 AD the Muslim Army which was moving on Paris was defeated and turned back
at Tours, France, by Charles Martell. In 1571 AD the Muslim Army/ Navy was defeated
by the Italians and Austrians as they tried to cross the Mediterranean to attack southern Europe in the Battle of Lapanto.
In 1683 AD the Turkish Muslim Army, attacking Eastern Europe, was finally defeated in
the Battle of Vienna by German and Polish Christian Armies.
...this crap has been going on for 1,400 years and half of the politicians don't even know it.
If these battles had not been won we might be speaking Arabic and Christianity could
be non-existent; Judaism certainly would be... And let us not forget that Hitler was an admirer of Islam and that the Mufti of Jerusalem was Hitler's guest in Berlin and raised Bosnian Muslim SS Divisions: the 13th and 21st Waffen SS Divisions who killed Jews, Russians, Gypsies, and any other "subhumans".

Reflecting:
A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine that America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.
Pause a moment, reflect back. These events are actual events from history. They really happened! Do you remember?

1. In 1968, Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male.
2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim males.
3. In 1972 a Pan Am 747 was hijacked and eventually diverted to Cairo where a fuse was
lit on final approach. It was blown up shortly after landing by Muslim males.
4. In 1973 a Pan Am 707 was destroyed in Rome, with 33 people killed, when it was attacked with grenades by Muslim males.
5. In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim males.
6. During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim males.
7. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim males.
8. In 1985, the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim males.
9. In 1985, TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim males.
10. In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim males.
11. In 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim males.
12. In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim males.
13. On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people   were killed by Muslim males.
14. In 2002, the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim males.
15. In 2002, reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and beheaded by---you guessed it was a Muslim male. (Plus two other American journalists were just beheaded)
16. In 2013, Boston Marathon Bombing 4 Innocent people including a child killed, 264 injured by Muslim males.

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people.

So, ask yourself  "Just how stupid are we???"
Absolutely No Profiling!
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old, Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males, alone lest they be guilty of profiling.

Ask yourself  "Just how stupid are we?"

Have the American people completely lost their minds or just their Power of Reason???
Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Alreds and other stupid attorneys, along with Federal Justices, that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense. As the writer of the award winning story 'Forrest Gump' so aptly put it,   'Stupid Is As Stupid Does'.

Each opportunity that you have to send this to a friend or media outlet... Do It! OR SIT BACK, JUST KEEP GRIPING, AND DO NOTHING.

WAKE UP AMERICA!! Wake up Canada!!

Newspapers - slitting their own throats

I remember a conversation with the publisher of the Northwest Herald several years ago, when I asked if that paper intended to charge readers of its online edition. John Rung told me absolutely not!

Well, time's change.

Instead of finding creating ways to get (invite, sell) readers to buy their paper editions, they watched circulation shrink. Now many, many newspapers want to charge online readers. They spring digital registration at readers after just a few visits.

These papers forget that they might have readers who are not local. Would local readers be more inclined to fork over $8-10 each month to read their "papers" on their laptops or iPads or phones?

What if papers charged $0.25/day? Sure, I might not part with a quarter every day, but I'd drop a quarter to read interesting articles. Would you?

I like to skim the Northwest Herald, the Chicago Tribune, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and even my local paper, The State. Some of them (ex., Chicago Tribune) at least warn you in advance that an article is available only on the paid, digital format. Others, like my local paper (The State) do not. When you try to read the paper online, you are directed to the digital registration.

All that does is make me mad. At least, I know in advance that the Tribune isn't going to let me read an article without paying. Rather than drawing me into paid status, the surprise registration pages just push me farther away.

Don't worry. I won't be creating a "paid edition" of the Woodstock Advocate...

Mandatory Voting ... how to destroy USA

Obama's hare-brained idea about mandatory voting is one of the sleaziest ideas to come out of Washington.

He reportedly said, "If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country,"

It certainly would. If the dumb, illiterate, uninformed rabble who don't vote now were required to vote, for whom would they vote?

Obama
Hillary
Sharpton
Jackson

Think anyone in that Cleveland "civic group" stood up and said, "Liar!"?

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) said what???

Lest my readers and friends think I pick only on Democrats and anti-gunners, did you read the absolutely preposterous and dangerous words of South Carolina's U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham this week?

He reportedly said, "And here's the first thing I would do if I were president of the United States. I wouldn't let Congress leave town until we fix this. I would literally use the military to keep them in if I had to. We're not leaving town until we restore these defense cuts. We are not leaving town until we restore the intel cuts."

Who does he think he is? King? Czar? Despot? Tyrant?

Is there any law about shooting a Senator in the foot? No, I certainly am not threatening him. I mean, he has just shot himself in the foot, as far as his Presidential chances. Should he be charged and prosecuted for injuring a government official? This ought to haunt him as long as he stays in the Republican race.

Now, in addition to worrying about Obama's Islamic overthrow of the U.S., it looks like we have to be concerned, if only temporarily, about a presidential hopeful and his claims about how he will rule.

Graham just needs to go away now. And, while he's picking up his hat and leaving, he should grab The Donald's hand and take him, too. You're fired! Both of you!

The Republicans are not wasting any time setting themselves up for a huge loss in 2016.

By the way, compare Graham's photo in the news this week with the photo on his senatorial webpage:

Here's his "high school" graduation picture from his government website. Do we need a little "Truth in Advertising" law applied here?

Date?

What is "officer-created jeopardy"?

Police have dangerous jobs. There is no doubt about that. They are expected to make decisions, often with very little thinking time.

This is why training is so important.

In November 2012 a drunk driver was shot and killed by a Palm Springs (Calif.) police officer. Two officers were involved and were cleared.

The article below follows an investigation that revealed one of the officers escalated the situation, and his partner opened fire on the driver. For the details, read the article.

This would make a good case study for all police departments.

Results of today's educational system

An article on AOL News today reports that Budget Travel has named Grand Marais, Minnesota, as the coolest small town in America. Its population? "13 hundred residents"

"5th place was awarded to Washington, a North Carolina town with a population of just over 9 thousand 7 hundred residents."

What schools turn out graduates who write "13 hundred" and "9 thousand 7 hundred"?

I wonder if the error was at AOL or at Budget Travel.

I recall a teacher in the Woodstock (Ill.) School District who told me that students no longer had to know how to spell, because there is spellchecker. And they don't have to know how to add because they have calculators. And they don't have to know how to write legibly, because they have keyboards.

I told that teacher she was wrong on all three!

Your thoughts? Should our schools require strong math skills (the basic tool for balancing a checkbook), legible writing and good writing skills, including sentence structure and spelling?

Hillary's emails - big problem

Anybody see a problem with Hillary Clinton's not having a State Department email address? Anyone who believes that : I have a bridge in New York I'd like to sell you...

What was she using? Yahoo? AOL? GMail? NetZero? Hotmail?

Anyone can guess why she used an outside email address. So she wouldn't be accountable. So emails could be deleted without leaving a record. So it would be incredibly difficult (or impossible) to obtain them by FOIA.

You'd better believe that people inside her office knew what she was doing. They didn't challenge her or report her, knowing that to do so could involve great personal risk. Yes, as great as you can imagine. What happens to the subordinate who stands up to Hillary?

Imagine a sweet, soft, sincere Hillary saying something like, "You really should respect my authority and position, honey." Now pinch yourself and wake up.

Now, let's take it closer to home.

Several years ago I complained to the City of Woodstock that City Council members were using their personal email addresses for City business. You may have had the same experience. When I wrote to a Council member at his or her City email address, I received a reply from his (or her) personal (non-City) email account.

The City said the Council members weren't doing anything wrong. It was just easier for them to reply from their offices. Yeah, sure... Those were the days before Roscoe Stelford. Has he changed anything?

The Public Access Counselor (PAC) in the Office of the Illinois Attorney General said it was inappropriate to so use persoal email accounts and that they should be replying from the official City email account. But why should Woodstock care about the opinion of the PAC? He (or she) has only bark; no bite.

What's the policy in Woodstock now? Send an email today to 2-3 Council members and look at the email address in the reply.

How to Get to Mars

A long-time friend in Colorado sent this to me. JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) is in California.

Be sure to watch it.

USA - Murder Capital - Not!

Check out what Bill Whittle has to say about guns and the USA. His statistics ought to cause the anti-gunners to choke.

This is worth watching.
