When the 7th Court of Appeals ruled on December 11, 2012, that Illinois had to write a concealed carry law, it started the clock ticking on a 180-day limit.
When is the deadline? June 9, 2013. Unless the Court meant 180 "business days". Did it?
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has already decided to waste Illinois' taxpayers previous dollars on an appeal to a full 10-judge Court. Her appeal is thought not to slow the ticking clock.
If the full Court of Appeals goes against Illinois, will Madigan run off the U.S. Supreme Court, further wasting previous dollars (and lives)?
The Illinois House and the Illinois Senate could finally take responsible action on behalf of Illinois resident and pass a good concealed carry law. There is one ready to put on the table - HB 0148 (97th Session), sponsored by Rep. Brandon Phelps and now with more than 50 co-sponsors.
This Bill is now hard to find, thanks to the design of the Illinois House Bill finder. If you enter HB0148, you don't get the concealed carry bill.
Call your Illinois State Representative and ask him or her to support Rep. Phelps' bill and not to tinker with it.

This bunch in Springfield is not worried about that ruling. They will wait 179 days and try to get a stay while they file an apeal to the Supreme Court. They are, as sick as this sounds, hoping quietly for more gun ttragedy cases to help their case.
