"Jo Daviess County (Ill.) Assistant State’s Attorney Robert Bush could face suspension or even disbarment for allegations he mishandled the trust of a former Elizabeth man and used money from this man’s accounts without his knowledge." So published The Journal-Standard on December 8, 2010.
Why is this a miscarriage of justice?
Back in June a trial board of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) heard that Bush improperly used funds from a client's account for his personal benefit.
It took the board until November 1 to rule, and it recommended a four-year suspension. The ARDC’s administrator disagreed and urged disbarment.
The newspaper article continued, "An ARDC Review Board will hold a public hearing on this case early next year, and then make a recommendation to the Illinois Supreme Court." Until then Bush can continue to practice law. The Illinois Supreme Court might not even rule in 2011.
Would it be better to stop Bush in his tracks right now with the four-year suspension than to let him practice for, say, 1 1/2 years and then strip him of his law license?

I'd rather here more about the McHenry Co. ASA who was involved with a domestic with is wife. Boy, that was swept under the rug mighty quick....

An article ran briefly in the NWH with no comments allowed. Patrick Kenneally is the ASA involved; it happened in Barrington. I'm sure the charges will be dropped and this will all go away very quietly...
