Beth Bentley - gone 115 weeks

Woodstock mother, wife, sister, daughter Beth Bentley vanished sometime between May 20-23, 2010. She disappeared from Centralia, Ill. Or was it from Mount Vernon, Ill.? Or was it from Woodstock, Ill.?

A friend recently described a colleague as "he can smell a rat at 100 paces."The rats in this case are a lot closer than 100 paces.

Beth is still classified by Woodstock Police as "Missing Adult - Endangered". The photo and media release from November 11, 2010, is still on the PD's website, and it now carries an expiration date of May 11, 2013. Why didn't they just make it May 24, the third anniversary of Beth's disappearance?

The police have never explained "endangered" to the public, other than a generic, text-book, one-size-fits-all definition.

The June monthly report of the Woodstock Police Department to the City Manager, City Council and Mayor (in the packet for the July 17, 2012 City Council meeting) contains the same "boilerplate" from previous months. They just copy it from month-to-month. When that happens in any organization, it's often because nothing is happening.

For how many more weeks will the report be, "Nothing to report"?

SAD.

I wonder if anyone that theorized she left of her own volition, still thinks that is possible after this much time has passed. For someone who was described as; a serial texter, loving mom, someone who stands out in a crowd, a high maintenance gal - having her hair extensions, nails done, etc - she'd have certainly pulled a fast one and for no apparent reason!

No, as much as I want to believe that Ms. Bentley is out living a new life somewhere or is an amnesia victim in a strange place, the odds of that being the case seem less each day and Woodstock PD still has not one iota to say to or to ask the public about it. Did I mention how sad it is? Oh, yeah.
