Attempted abduction at Woodstock Walgreen's

The Northwest Herald reports online this morning about an attempted child abduction at the Woodstock Walgreen's. Shortly before 6:00PM Wednesday Theodore J. Miller, 42, allegedly attempted to lure a 10-year-old girl in his car as she walked toward the door into Walgreen's.

The child's mother was watching and called the girl back to her car, then notified police. The suspect's car was described as a gold or tan 1996 Toyota Corolla with a broken driver's side tail light.

Miller, described by the newspaper as homeless, was in custody by 9:30PM.

The first story about this appeared on the Northwest Herald's website at 10:03AM, and no press release is yet posted on the Woodstock PD's website. Hopefully, more information will be forthcoming about where Miller was identified and apprehended, along with which officers were involved in his arrest.

Here's a thought. What if we had a concealed-carry law in Illinois, and what if this mother had been packing? Think she would have flown out of her and to her daughter's defense?

In this case it turned out well that she could call her daughter to her car and phone 9-1-1 from the safety of her car. What if Miller had grabbed the girl?

Call Rep. Jack Franks today (815.334.0063) and tell him to come around to the side of law-abiding citizens who want the right to defend themselves outside their homes. Tell him that your vote in November 2 will be affected by his position on concealed carry.

I don't know about the gun issue but I do know that this man needs to be kept in jail where he can not get his paws on our kids. Key word KEPT. Our judges just do not seem to get that. Stop letting them out on probation to reoffend. Jaycee Duggard would have never lost 18 years of her life had the system done what it should be doing and that is protecting the citizens from these walking horrors. The can not be fixed. Use them for medical testing or whatever just keep them locked up.
