In a recent survey the question was asked, “Should Illinois abolish township assessors?”
The vote?
Yes 29 (69%)
No 13 (31%)
Proponents of abolishing this elected position at the township level believe it could be handled at the County level with more consistency, less influence and less expense.
Many thanks to the 42 readers who voted in this survey. By a vote of 7-3, it looks like elected assessors (and their expense) should be scrapped at the township level.
