Joe Wilson - Apologize?

Should Rep. Joe Wilson (Rep.-S.C.) apologize for last Wednesday's shout of "You lie!" in a joint meeting on Congress being addressed by President Obama?

Absolutely not! He did already apologize to Obama although, in my opinion, he need not have. The question now is whether he should apologize to Congress. And he should not.

Did you see the look of disapproval on Pelosi's face? If not, check out one of the videos on YouTube.com; just search for "Joe Wilson". You'd have thought that someone pinched her butt in an elevator.

We have a few elected representatives in Congress Just a few to represent 300,000,000 residents in the United States. One hundred Senators? Five hundred thirty-five Representatives? So, 600+ men and woman represent 300,000,000.

We do not need 600 bumps on a log in Washington. If the President says something that even one of them believes to be untrue, that one has an obligation to speak out - and to speak out immediately. Just as Joe Wilson did!

Silence is too often considered assent or consent. This cannot be allowed to be the case. Joe Wilson would get my vote for speaking out.

Now read the Associated Press article in today's Northwest Herald. "Negotiators on the Senate Finance Committee thought they already had resolved the question" of whether illegal aliens in the U.S. will qualify for federally subsidized healthcare coverage under the President's plan. Now they are taking another look at it. If they were sure, they wouldn't be taking another look!

I say, put the President, his family, and all the Senators and Representatives and federal employees under exactly the same healthcare system that covers you and me. Any new healtcare system should include them and eliminate their "special" healthcare plan.

I'll probably have a second heart attack today, when I pick up my bill from Centegra for a week at NIMC. If I'm smart, I'll take the unopened envelope with me to the ER and open it there. At least, I'll save another ride in one of WFRD's nice paramedic vehicles and another Flight for Life ride in a fancy helicopter.

Atleast we know its not people who are mad but congressman feel the same way we do and aren't afraid to speak out. But how dare anyone speak against the anointed One. Career politicians are the poison of any government.

Should he apologize.. of course. Should he be able to call the President a liar, sure. But this was an obvious breach of decorm at the highest level of government and it is an embarassment. You call him a liar during your open mic, on the congress floor. You don't interupt a guy giving a speech to congress, sheesh.
