The Woodstock Board of Fire and Police Commissioners (BOFPC) will meet on Tuesday, September 8, at 5:00PM for its Regular Quarterly Meeting at the Woodstock City Hall, 2nd floor.
No Executive Session is on the Agenda, meaning no personnel issues will be discussed.
The City has returned to the use of "City Hall" stationery for announcement of this BOFPC meeting. While it might seem a trivial matter to some, previous announcements on "Police Department" letterhead did not maintain the important distinction that the BOFPC is a board of the City, not of the police department.
Item III is Election of Chairman. This item is curious to me because of City Code Section 2.4.2: MEMBERSHIP AND TERMS (for the BOFPC):
"A. Board Membership: The board of fire and police commissioners shall consist of three (3) members, including an appointed chair, all of which shall reside within the corporate boundaries of the city of Woodstock. All members, including the chair, shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council."
I wonder what "election" will occur, since Mayor Sager seems to hold the authority to appoint the Chair for this Board.
Guesses, anyone?
