Test Woodstock well water, says IDPH

A Chicago Tribune "Breaking News" story at 8:15AM alerts Woodstock-area residents to possible drinking water contamination. Go to the Chicago Tribune homepage and search for "Woodstock", if you want to read it.

Illinois Department of Public Health officials are recommending that residents in the Woodstock area who drink well water should get the water tested, after levels of an industrial solvent were detected.

Unfortunately, the article did not indicate what part of the Woodstock "area". The City of Woodstock provides treated water to residents. Where are the houses on wells that are at risk?

Damage to the liver and kidneys could result from such a contaminant, according to the Tribune article.

Contact the McHenry County Department of Health for more information and availability of testing.
