Say Pledge at City Council meetings

Should meetings of the Woodstock City Council start with the Pledge of Allegiance?

If you have been to a meeting, you know that they don't.

At least one judge in the McHenry County courts starts his sessions with the Pledge. Dorr Township monthly meetings start with the Pledge. Woodstock District 200 Board of Education meetings start with the Pledge. A few other meetings start with the Pledge.

Say the Pledge to yourself right now. What does it mean to you?

What does the U.S. Flag Code have to say about the Pledge? "The Pledge should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."
