The McHenry County Chapter of the Illinois Green Party will meet this Wednesday at the Woodstock Public Library.
The February 9, 2011, meeting will start at 7:00PM and run not later than 8:45PM. The Woodstock Library is located at 454 West Judd Street, and there is plenty of parking in front and across the street (if the parking lot gets plowed before then).
The Green Party is one of three "established" political parties in McHenry County. Being an "established" party makes it considerably easier for a candidate to get on a ballot for any county-wide or local office. A candidate will need the state-mandated 1/2 of 1% of the votes in the County as the number of signers for a petition to be filed for an office, and this number may be only 23 petition signers.
Scott Summers ran for State Treasurer in the last election.
Frank Wedig ran for County Board District 5 in the last election.
Bill Scheurer ran for Congress in the last election.
Gus Philpott ran for County Sheriff in the last election.
