Arbitrator Teague - more hot water

Jennifer Teague has her neck in a noose over her involvement as state arbitrator of a workers' comp claim for a state trooper who was injured in a crash he caused in November 2007 that killed two sisters.

She must feel like she is standing on a three-legged stool that is starting to wobble. The Belleville News-Democrat has a story about her today. Today's story reports her alleged attempt to get faster resolution of her own workers' comp claim by offering to speed up a hearing in a different case. That different case involves a corrections officer at the Big Muddy state pen who had committed suicide on May 4, 2008, after being harassed by her co-workers.

It seems that Teague didn't want to wait 180 days to get paid, like the rest of workers' comp claimants. You can read the whole story at www.bnd.com/2011/02/12/1588447/arbitrator-sought-help-on-her.html

This story shows once again the power of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. Without it, do you think very much of this would have become public knowledge?

And it shows solid investigative reporting. We could use some of that in McHenry County!
