On Friday, February 11, an attempt will be made to set a mass-reading record for the Guinness Book of World Records, when thousands gather around the world to read President-elect Abraham Lincoln's five-minute farewell speech, as he departed Springfield, Ill. for Washington.
Go to the Drendel Ballroom in Prairie Lodge at Sun City Huntley, off Del Webb Blvd., at 10:30AM. Pre-registration is not required. Join in the public reading of this speech at 11:00AM. The speech was re-published on the Woodstock Advocate on January 15. To find it easily and read it before Friday, search on this blog for "Cooney".
