What is she thinking?

What in the world could Attorney General Lisa Madigan and her Public Access Counselor be thinking? I mean, about trying to force the Illinois State Police to release the names of FOID cardholders to the press. In case you don't know, a FOID card is the Firearms Owner's Identification card.

The AP reporter who filed the FOIA request was at the IGOLD gathering in Springfield on Thursday. He got a mention from the platform, but he didn't step up and take a bow.

But back to Lisa and Gang. Now I like the help I get from them on FOIA and the Open Meetings Act, but this is over the top.

Why should FOID cardholder information remain private? Simple!

If the bad guys know who has a FOID card, they know which houses to break into to steal guns.

If they know who has a FOID card, then they know who doesn't, and they can break into those houses and steal and plunder defenseless victims.

The way it is now, the bad guys don't know which house might be the residence of a gun owner ready to defend himself.

So there is really only one side of the fence for both gunowners and non-gunowners. Keep the list private. Even if you don't own a gun and don't ever plan to, you still don't want a "Break In Here" sign out front, if you aren't on the list of FOID cardholders.

Go to http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/ and let Lisa Madigan hear from you today.

OK, Dan. Your "test" worked. Looking forward now to your comment.

Dan's "test" got posted, because I thought that's just what it was. I didn't recognize "Dan" as a previous poster.

However, you others who sent "test" don't get posted. I recognize your names.

Bill, your idea of tossing the FOID card requirement was actually mentioned at IGOLD on Thursday.

Quinn will figure it out....require EVERONE to have a FOID card. The State gets some more money to waste and nobody really knows who does or does not own any guns
