Does McHenry County have a Sheriff?

After hearing the rumor last week that Sheriff Nygren had gone to Florida on vacation (he is entitled to vacation, although how much might be open to question, since he was just re-elected and took office on December 1), and that he intended to use up his vacation time, personal and sick days, and then retire, I was curious about just where Sheriff Nygren lives in McHenry County.

Then I heard that Brian Krause had made a written demand for the house that he bought on December 3rd from Nygren, from which Nygren refused to move. To what address in McHenry County would Nygren move, in order to maintain a valid residence (required) to hold the Office of Sheriff?

I drove by the house in Hebron today. From the street it appears to be unoccupied, as in "vacant". So perhaps Nygren has now moved out. What did he do with his furniture? Does he have a new, legitimate address in McHenry County? Or did he move his furniture out of the County or into storage? Why is his white Chevrolet Tahoe still parked in the driveway?

Don't General Orders at the Sheriff's Department require a County vehicle to be turned in, if the employee will be away from duty for more than his few days off in a week? And wouldn't the vehicle be safer in the Sheriff's Department parking lot than parked in a driveway in Hebron? Doesn't it contain valuable County-owned equipment, such as Department radios and emergency lights?

Nygren won't, of course, answer any questions from me, nor does he have to. But he must answer them to some official. Today I called McHenry County Clerk Kathie Schultz to ask who that official is, to whom Nygren must answer. When she returns to the office tomorrow and calls me back, I'll know, and I'll let you know.

Where does one come up with this hyperbole? I heard, he said, she said. You think you should get equal billing with legit press organizations so disclose some info.

How can you tell from the street that it is vacant since the house is higher than the road. I think you outed yourself Gus. Doing some window peeking? Why not just ask the neighbors if he's there?
