Why casinos want smokers

The casinos in Illinois are pushing on the legislators (lobbying!) to get the smoking law changed in Illinois, so that smokers can roam the floors and throw their money away on the slot machines and tables.

And it looks like the Illinois House of Representatives coughed and sputtered on enough of the smoke to approve HB 1965 (62-52) and send it to the Illinois Senate.

Will the Senate stand firm and "Just Say NO"?

What rules? $$$s

Why do the casinos want the law changed?

It's simple. Money. Who cares about health, of either their workers or their customers?

When gamblers smoke, they drink. And, when they drink, they lose more money. Ka-ching. And when customers lose, who wins? Get it?

A gambler and his money are soon parted... The lights on the casinos, like the lights in Las Vegas, are not kept burning from peoples' winnings!

Did any one ever wonder why all the States are Broke?

When Millions smoked the cigarette tax was in the Billions, All states were rolling in money.
And Now?

You know, Bill.

Fewer smokers; therefore, reduced taxes collected.

So per-pack tax goes up. Which results in fewer smokers.

So taxes continue to go down.

Then per-pack tax will go up.

Then there will be fewer smokers; and so reduced taxes collected.

Which means per-pack tax will go up.

Ad infinitum, until there is one smoker left, and the per-pack tax will be $10,000,000.

More smokers = higher medicaid payments the state has to pay out for everyone dying from smoking-related illnessess...

Medicaid will still be paying for the related illness brought on by the people stuffing themselves with Big Macs, KFC ....and the people suffering from drinking ...
Goes on and on ...
