Woodstock candidates' forum canceled

The candidates' forum for the Woodstock (Ill.) City Council race, scheduled for March 31, has been canceled. Four of the six candidates have indicated they will not attend; three will be out of town for Spring Break.

After a discussion with the two candidates who were very interested in meeting with the public and who were available for the forum, Mark Indyke and Joe Starzynski, we decided to cancel the forum.

We wish to express appreciation to Woodstock School District 200, which agreed to open the Woodstock High School auditorium for the evening forum. The District had generously agreed to make the school available without charge, even though it was during Spring Break, and to waive the liability insurance requirement for this community event.

They had enough time to mark their calendar to clear time for the Candidates' Forum for the Woodstock City Council race, scheduled for March 31, 2011. What is going on are they afraid of the questions that might be asked? Spineless Politicians! If they can’t schedule one day for the Forum, how in the hell are they going to find time for Woodstock City Council business?
It seems Mark Indyke and Joe Starzynski care enough to make time. We have no time for free rides in the Woodstock City Council. By the way how can Saladin be classified as a small business owner. He’s a lawyer in an area law firm (Zanck, Coen & Wright). Zanck, Coen & Wright is not a small business. Saladin is already the attorney for Door Township… GOOD OLD BOY NETWORK!

Maverick, thanks for your comment.

Organization of the candidates' forum started on April 17, which was pretty late in the schedule. The three incumbents had already planned to be out of town, because it is District 200's Spring Break.
