Did Woodstock's City Council make the right decisions on resolutions about hospital proposals of Centegra and Mercy?
Recently the Council gave a thumbs-up to Centegra when it approved a Resolution endorsing Centegra's hopes to build a hospital in Huntley. Then, last Tuesday, it gave a thumbs-down to a Resolution about Mercy's plans for a Crystal Lake hospital.
Frankly, the City Council should have kept its hands off both issues. Neither organization is going to build in Woodstock. Why should they waste City Council time (and our money) on either Resolution?
If they were going to support one, then they should have supported both. Just what is signified by the "No" vote last Tuesday isn't clear to me. Both organizations are strong, honest, ethical and provide good medical care. Right?
Has Woodstock slipped a notch (or three) in the eyes of the editors at the Northwest Herald? When did Woodstock slide from city down to "Village"? The headline Thursday was "Village rejects Mercy's bid".
