See a real, live protest - Tues. in Woodstock

The peace and quiet of little, old Woodstock is likely be disrupted on Tuesday, March 15 (the Ides of March) by tax protestors who can't keep themselves busy enough in Madison. Or maybe they think they'll garner some sympathy south of the border (OK, well, state line...).

It's a good thing I read McHenry County Blog (www.mchenrycountyblog.com) to find out what's happening in Woodstock!

On Tuesday, March 15, at 5:00PM, expect streets and sidewalks at Dean Street and West South Street to have more than a little congestion, when sympathizers to Wisconsin teachers and other union members descend on Woodstock.

Something about "Defend the Dream". More like, "Kill to Goose." When are the union members going to wake up and realize their part in killing economies? The USA is in a recession - a depression.

How many years ago did I read a question (in Reader's Digest, I think) about what else should be expected by consumers who demand lower prices for the junk they want to buy or the services they want to use? Wages are lower overseas, resulting in lower prices to manufacture electronics, for example. So, factories are moved overseas. Then Americans complain about loss of jobs.

Willing to pay more for TVs? Cars? Customer service? Well, are you? I didn't think so.

If you are, then those jobs might stay in the U.S. (where wages are higher). Leaders in state governments must act to prevent bankruptcy. Guess what, teachers and union members? You get to participate. Your greed is helping to cause the financial failure of state and other governments.

It better be a peaceful demonstration, or the sheriff will need to break out more registration forms for new guests at the Nygren Palace on North Seminary.
