Beth Bentley - gone 43 weeks

Is the trail going colder and colder in the missing person case of Beth Bentley, Woodstock mother of three who went missing somewhere around May 21-23, 2010?

Is there some reason that the Reward now appears to be only $2,000 (down from $5,000) and why there isn't an ongoing clamor by the "bereaved" husband, the adult children, her father and her brothers?

Rumors persist, but even they aren't being talked about much. And the "second" Facebook page for Beth Bentley Missing seems now to be gone.

Even the "first" Beth Bentley Missing page on Facebook has been closed to the public. At one time it had almost 8,000 followers; now it is "Closed: limited public comment." And it contains considerable shallow and misleading information on the "Info" page. Not even a picture of Beth is there. A photo of her husband and one son is shown (that ought to help find her; right?). And the page title? "BETH BENTLEY - helpng to bring them ALL HOME". What's up with that? Are they looking for Beth or for all the missing persons in the world?

This page went from finding Beth to a page that does nothing. The interest of 8,000 followers was squandered!

Page content reads, "Beth disappeared Sunday, May 23rd from either Mt. Vernon or Centralia...we have not been able to determine WHERE."

Maybe she didn't disappear May 23. Maybe she didn't disappear from Mt. Vernon or Centralia. Maybe she never made it to Mt. Vernon. Some wonder whether she ever made it out of Woodstock.

And it reads, "Beth's friend, who will not be named, allegedly dropped her off 'by the train' in Centralia, IL."

And then two sentences later, "Beth went from Woodstock, IL to Mt. Vernon, IL with her best friend, Jenn Wyatt,..." (Photo above is Beth Bentley (left) and Jenn Wyatt (right) as they appeared in late spring 2010.) Do they think they are being clever with the "who will not be named" stunt? Anyone who has followed this case since May knows that Jenn Wyatt claims she drove Beth to Centralia onn Sunday and says she dropped Beth off near the Amtrak station. Is that supposed to be a Nancy Drew detective story?

And then the garbage about how the page author states emphatically that Beth's phone CAN NOT (sic) be "found, triangulated, pinged". Previously, that Facebook page contained considerable content about text messages on Sunday between Beth and a man who was more than a close friend, so pinging through Sunday was certainly possibly. And recently a rumor started that Beth phone was pinged on Sunday night (after she disappeared) in McHenry County about 11:00PM.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to start asking questions about how a pizza was ordered from Beth's phone in Mount Vernon before 6:00PM on Sunday (if it was) and then pinged in McHenry County about 11:00PM.
On that Facebook page is a mailing address for cards to the "BENTLEY FAMILY". However, the address given is not the Bentley's address! One might guess that the Serenity Drive is the address of the Facebook page originator and well-intentioned neighbor, but why doesn't the address read, "Bentley Family, in care of (name)"? Does the recipient open and screen mail? Why isn't mail to be addressed directly to the Bentley home?

In many missing-person cases, there is an ongoing clamor by family. In this case, the family has been too quiet. Perhaps they just don't know what to do to get more public attention. Resources are available - readily available.

Thanks, Tammy.

I hope your messages are read by those who control "BBM-1" on Facebook. They are the ones who took down thousands of messages and removed about 4,000 followers.
