Was Beth Bentley headed to St. Louis on the train, before returning for Chicago?
A Facebook follower of the disappearance of Beth Bentley on Sunday, May 23, emailed me that her local paper has reported that Beth was going to St. Louis first. This, of course, contradicts published accounts of her itinerary and should send investigators in a different direction.
Details are still murky about how she got to the Centralia Amtrak station, if she did, who drove her there, and what time she got there. And why the friend didn't wait with her until the train arrived.
Mt. Vernon (Ill.) Police Chief Chris Mendenhall is reported as saying, "(Beth) was last seen at the Amtrak station in Centralia."
The Mt. Vernon Register-News carries a front-page article today about Beth's disappearance, but only the portion of the article on the front page can be read; the continuation on Page 3 cannot be viewed in the .pdf version. There seems to be no online article about that front-page article.

I suspect a misprint in the Mt. Vernon paper about the destination. The wording is very similar to local articles that she would arrive in Chicago at 10:00PM. St. Louis is a lot closer to Centralia than Chicago.
