Check out this address to Congress by Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.), after Mexico's President Calderon. He makes a clear, intelligent statement. Where was he when the Republicans were looking for a candidate for President?

He has a point I endorse HIGHLY. The immigration laws of Mexico should be the immigration laws of the United States. If they are tough we should be tough, and if they are weak ours should be weak.
Because of lax enforcement we have placed ourselves in a situation where neighbors and friends are "illegal" although they have resided in the US for more than 20 years and have raised children who are now grown. To begin to enforce these laws strictly after such a long period of laxity is hypocritical and wrong.
