Did Grafton Township Trustees violate the Illinois Open Meetings Act at its meeting last Thursday, or did it have a Special Meeting between then and its filing of its lawsuit against Supervisor Linda Moore yesterday?
This morning's paper (you know which one) reports that the Trustees have filed suit against the Supervisor over what they claim are improperly removed or deleted township computer files.
But when did they decide to sue?
Last Thursday night they tried to exclude the Supervisor from their Executive Session, but the Township attorney advised them that Moore could attend the session.
When the Executive Session concluded and the group returned to open session, they indicated they were not going to take action on any matter discussed. They also failed to take a roll call upon re-entering the open session. Do that mean .... no, I won't even go there... Well, okay; are they still in Executive Session??? Is the audio tape-recorder still running?
Was there a second Executive Session last Thursday night, after I got bored with the bickering and left?
One comment to a media article read something like, "If this isn't a good reason to abolish townships in Illinois, what is?"
Grafton Township must have won the Mega-Lotto; their legal fees are heading for orbit! The only ones happy with the legal contests must be the lawyers involved. Maybe it really is time for a law permitting recall of elected officials in Illinois!
