Do away with townships? survey almost 50-50

Following a recent article about Dorr Township, I asked the following question in a survey: “Should townships be abolished in Illinois?”

Many thanks to the 86 readers who responded to the survey. The results are:

Yes - 42 (49%)
No – 44 (51%)

The uproar in Grafton Township and the Citizens’ Committee in Dorr Township are drawing attention of many people to township government.

It seems to me that they’d better improvement the marketing and publicity about their services and value, or they will soon disappear from the landscape – like the dinosaurs.

Another group of "politicians"... those that can't cut it in the real world of city/village govt, or are just wannabes.
They can then have their very own "fifedoms" and feed their egos.
Doh.
