County Treasurer flush?

Did you see today's 1/2-page ad on the back page of the first section of the Northwest Herald? Wow! Just what does an ad like that cost???

There is not only the cost of the newspaper space but also the ad lay-out cost!

Isn't there a mantra of all public officials - "Spend it or lose it?" You had better spend all your money; otherwise, next year you won't be able to justify asking for more...

Do you suppose there is anybody in McHenry County who is concerned about being able to find the Treasurer's Office? So what if you go to the Government Center first?

Will in-person customers get confused by the walk-in address (the new building at 2100 N. Seminary (well, there is actually no South Seminary!) and the Mailing Address of 2200 N. Seminary shown on the website?

Why don't they get mail at 2100 N. Seminary? Can't the mail carrier find the building?

And why is the County Treasurer competing with private enterprise by offer Passport service? Photographers and drug stores offer passport photo service. Why should the Treasurer's office purchase and maintain photographic equipment and use County employee time for that service?

Hey, Bill. How about a little friendlier photo on the website?
