Attend this workshop for pastors, lay people and the community who want to make a difference.
The 22nd Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Council presents "Faith & Violence: What is Domestic Violence and What Can the Faith Community Do About It?" at the Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Ln. in McHenry.
Objectives of this seminar are to help the faith community know how to appropriately respond to those involved with domestic violence incidents and understand the unique needs of family members who are affected by domestic violence. Introduction will be made as to how to begin a domestic violence ministry, as well as to resources for domestic violence victims, abusers and child witnesses. Also, participants will experience "In Her Shoes", a realistic look into the obstacles in the community that abused women face as they attempt to leave the violence in their homes.
There is no charge for this program, which is offered Saturday, April 17th, from 9am to noon. Registration and a continental breakfast are available beginning at 8:30am.
To register, call Bev Thomas, Coordinator, 22nd Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Council at (815) 479-7792 or email bthomas@mchenry.edu
