Big Mac Attack?

If you live in Woodstock, you've got just two days to make it to McDonald's to salve your taste buds with a Big Mac, fries or whatever.

The Woodstock McDonald's will close on Friday, April 30, for 3-4 months, while the old building is torn down and a new one is built. The new restaurant will accommodate more drive-through customers who will, undoubtedly, sit in line with their engines' idling, smelling up the air and polluting Woodstock. Can anyone spell g-l-o-b-a-l w-a-r-m-i-n-g?

Maybe they'll install a sign to request drivers to shut off their engines if idling more than 15 seconds. Fat chance, eh?

By the way, have you seen the new (tiny) sign at Woodstock North High School that directs drivers not to sit there and idle. One little sign for all those cars...

Dr. Richard Lindzen, an atmospheric physicist and Professor at MIT, has always stated, and continues to state that "man" is responsible for approximately 3% - yes, that's 3% of carbon dioxide being "belched" into the atmosphere each year.

Consider also, that under the "sacred" Kyoto protocols, that whatever controls the supportive statists involved are lobbying for will result in the FRACTIONS of reduction of CO2 on the order of a FRACTION of less than 1%.

While many have challenged him personally with adhominem attacks, NOBODY has been able to dispute his truths, his facts, in this regard.

Get a real religion, people!

Gus... do you turn your car off while waiting at a light? Or in line at the bank? Same thing isn't it?
As for McYuks... I just hope that when they reopen they do something about getting drive thru orders CORRECT! It is not just McD's that can't seem to get an order correct. I ordered a cilantro lime fish from BK and got a bacon cheeseburger. What is wrong with this people? Can't they read English? Oh yeah... thats right, most can only read espanol.

I seldom use drive-thru window service and never if it will be a long wait. I park and walk into the bank. And at Osco? If I use the drive-thru, I shut off my engine.

Correct me if I'm wrong here Gussy, but isn't the point of the two drive thrus to get cars quicker so they don't have a LONG single line? So if the lanes are doubled, the cars can move through quicker resulting in less time for your car to be idling!

Look in the the backround of the picture! The FD has an aerial latter up and Gussy is worried about McDs

"Thrift" is a good thing. Thrift provides untold benefits - not only for the environment, but for your pockets as well. All without having to take on a new religion.

I'm with you on drive-throughs Gus, in that if it's a long line, I go in to the counter - much faster.

I'm guessing that the beef in the hamburgers contributes more towards global climate change rather than idling cars in the drive-through.

I miss idling my Freightliner conventional. Sniff.

Good eyes, Frank. WFRD must have been doing some kind of benefit at Dunkin' Donuts or next door. They were there in force and had balloons tied to the fire and rescue equipment.

I wonder how long it takes to lower the ladder and load up, if there had been a fire downtown.

So let me ask you a question? You are always so worried about the police getting payed for doing nothing...have you looked at the FD? It is possible the FD is paying overtime to staff that event in the back of the picture.

Frank, I don't recall one time when I have written about police getting paid for doing nothing.

No, I haven't looked WFRD's cost to do whatever they are doing in the background. How about if you do some checking on it and send along a comment about it?
