Do they read?
Another shooting in Chicago? How many is that this year?
Maybe we should be glad that Chicago residents are denied the right to arm themselves outside their homes? If they could, crime would drop, and the criminals would head out this way for easier pickin's.
The simple book title of Prof. John Lott's book says it all - More Guns, Less Crime. When the "bad guys" have to worry about whether the next person they attempt to rob or shoot might be armed, or whether somebody nearby might be armed, the street robberies and shootings will drop.
If they flee after shooting someone, it won't be legal to chase them down and shoot them. But, if they shoot at someone nearby who is armed, then that person can shoot back. Or somebody protecting that person may legally be able to shoot back.
The criminals are going to find out quickly that it is very unhealthy to keep shooting.
The Chicago Police could stop the shootings, if Supt. McCarthy would read and adopt a book he endorsed, Don't Shoot: One Man, A Street Fellowship, and the End of Violence in Inner-City America, by David M. Kennedy. Here's what McCarthy had to say about Kennedy's 2011 book: “Kennedy’s ideas extend beyond community policing and serve to revolutionize the entire criminal justice system.” But apparently he hasn't read the book!
Ohhhh,,,,, the R-word. Well, If the police don't get crime under control, and if the Democrats continue their attempts to disarm law-abiding citizens who believe in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, then revolution is what this country might just get.
