Anonymous posters? going, going, (almost gone)

Sen. Ira Silverstein
Ahhhh, finally a bill in the Illinois Senate that I like...

Check out SB1614 at www.ilga.gov

Sen. Ira Silverstein (D-8) probably feels like the Lone Ranger, since he is the sponsor of this month-old bill and no one has joined him.

Here's the synopsis of the Bill:

"Creates the Internet Posting Removal Act. Provides that a web site administrator shall, upon request, remove any posted comments posted by an anonymous poster unless the anonymous poster agrees to attach his or her name to the post and confirms that his or her IP address, legal name, and home address are accurate. Effective 90 days after becoming law."

This bill is a no-brainer. I mean, who would not like it? Only those anonymous posters who aren't brave enough to attach their names to their comments.

Come on, everybody. If some of us are brave enough to defend your right to say something, you ought to be brave enough to put your name with your comments.

This Bill could be better by requiring the name right up front, rather than having the "shall remove" provision.

Yes, we don't have enough worthless difficult and costly laws to enforce already, we really need another one.

Why can't we get some good legislators that can begin to repeal laws that are never used, or those that impair our freedom. That would be a full time job.
