What a cop party!

In a time of recession, depression, lay-offs, down-sizing, pay cuts and frozen pay, hiring freezes, it must be nice to know that these cuts don't affect the towns and chiefs of police of the South Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police.

They are holed up in Galena, Illinois, at a high-end resort for a three-day meeting. The association is comprised of south suburban Chicagoland departments, whose chiefs are from towns such as Oak Lawn, Orland Hills, South Chicago Heights, Dolton, Bridgeview, Park Forest - and those are just the chiefs on the Board of Directors!

Even the Chief from Phoenix (or his representative) is there! Phoenix, Illinois, that is...

So, in these days of a tough economy for their taxpayers, why didn't they stay at home and have their meeting at Moraine Valley Community College or someplace like that? I know, I know; the cuts are for everyone else, not the top cops.

The next question? Where will the Chiefs of Police from northern Illinois, including McHenry County, hold their "paid vacation"?
