It's springtime in Woodstock, and the garage sale season is underway. Already the illegal signs have sprouted. Take, for example, this one on Greenwood at 47. Nailed to a utility pole.
This one seems to have the City "sticker" on it, and a permit was issued for the garage sale. But what part of the rules do you suppose the holder of the garage sale didn't read? The part about no signs on utility poles.
Every year the City fights the same problems - over and over. Something is lacking, or the same problems would not recur every year. Maybe more pictures ("international language") are needed in the instructions, such as "Do this" and "Don't do that".
How about a picture of a properly-displayed garage sale sign and one of an improperly-displayed sign?
Knocking residents over their heads with a fine is one way, but education is better and produces a happier community.
