Red light cameras - watch this

Watch this, and then decide whether you are still against red light cameras: www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=-qvXbIenivk

And see if your driving habits change, when you approach a green light or a light that is changing.

Yep, still against them. Red light cameras wouldn't or didn't stop any of those accidents but a longer yellow may have.

Not even close to the mark, Gus. Of all those clips, there might have been two instances where the red light cameras might have played a part in modifying the behavior of the drivers. The guy who snuck through following the ambulance was one. The rest were all driver who were driving HUA (Head Up A**) and either had no clue the intersection was even there or were desperately trying to stop after waking up. Oh, wait a minute, those intersections had red light cameras didn't they? What did they prevent? What was their purpose then? Oh yeah, MONEY$$$$

Some of the accidents occurred when the light was clearly already red. I don't think red light cameras would have made any difference.

I do wonder how many of these drivers were talking on their cell phones when these accidents occurred.

What the cameras documented, obviously, was just how the crash happened. They removed all doubt as to who violaed the red. Sure, many were caused by reckless drivers. They were collected from many places over periods of time.

We tend to focus on one or a few intersections around here and are lucky not to have these types of crashes.

Drivers around here are whining about right-on-red violations, when they don't stop before reaching the white line (or even stop at all). And they whine about missing the yellow by 0.1 second. What were they doing for the four seconds the light was yellow???

It's 'obvious' that none of these cameras were red light cameras. Documenting how the crash happened will help decide who gets the tickets (revenue) but little else. The red light cameras are being sold as safety devices-they will help reduce such crashes. It's 'obvious' that this is not the case.

I want red light cameras so we can have tons of new videos with techno music behind them.
