Merit Commission meeting moved back one day

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department Merit Commission meeting for May, originally scheduled on its regular meeting day of the second Wednesday of the month (May 9), has been re-scheduled to Thursday, May 10, at 10:30AM.

The meeting will be held at 667 Ware Road, Woodstock, on the second floor.

The agenda appears unchanged except for the day/date. Whether an Executive Session will be held and under what Exception in the statutes, is not stated. A placeholder for an Executive Session appears on every published agenda.

Will Sheriff Nygren finally bring before the Merit Commission a request to move Sgt. Greg Pyle to unpaid administrative leave or even termination? Grounds certainly exist in the General Orders of the Department.

But Nygren has continued to pay Pyle $7,000/month since the date of his arrest on January 7, 2012, and his indictment on ten felonies. That's

$5,250 balance of January
$7,000 February
$7,000 March
$7,000 April
$2,333 1/3 of May
$28, 583 paid to Pyle since his arrest

At the March meeting I asked after the meeting whether Commission members could initiate such a disciplinary action without the sheriff's first bringing it to them. The response was that they would have to check with the Commission attorney. Last week I reminded members of my inquiry through the Commission's secretary, but there was no reply from the secretary.
