What in the world kind of sheriff does Pinellas County, Florida, have?
Bob Gualtieri, that county's sheriff, had the audacity to fire loafing deputies. How could he do such a thing? Hasn't he ever heard of the Code?
It seems that four deputies figured how to spend hours of duty time doing something other than duty; for example, watching movies and disconnecting County-installed GPS systems in their squad cars. When their cars couldn't be tracked, they'd go home or otherwise leave their assigned patrol territories.
What upset that sheriff? "Excessive loafing and idling."
And just look at this outrageous expectation! " the taxpayers of Pinellas County deserve to know that their tax dollars,
which are our salaries, are earned by each of us every day through the
provision of effective law enforcement services." Those of the words of a sheriff!!!
What a novel idea! Three cheers for Sheriff Gualtieri.
Could we bring some of those thoughts to McHenry County? Now, not about the rank-and-file deputies here. I haven't heard any reports of any of them "loafing or idling". Just wondering about the "each of us every day" part of his statement and the top of the pile in McHenry County Sheriff's Department.
Four months of 2012 have passed. Does anyone know how many days Sheriff Keith Nygren has been at work this year? He is paid over $12,000/month. Figuring maybe 20 work days per month, he gets paid $600/day "every (work) day".
Of course, if he works 10 days per month, then he is receiving $1,200/day. Is he worth that?
