Dorr Township - Feb. meeting

Dorr Township elected officials met this evening and moved through business in a pretty smooth manner. Trustees Andersen, Lamb and Swanson were in attendance; Trustee Evanoff was absent. Supervisor Bob Pierce, Clerk Quinn Keefe, Assessor Kelli Myers and Township Attorney Mark Saladin were present.

There was a discussion about the amount of content in the Minutes. Jane Collins and I have been nudging the trustees to report enough information in the monthly Minutes that a person could, years later, read the Minutes and know what had happened on a particular evening. The township attorney said that the Trustees could put in as much or as little as they wished, and tonight the trustees made no comment or decision in that direction.

The Minutes for the January meeting contained an adequate amount of detail in most areas, and the trustees approved them, with spelling and grammatical errors to be corrected.

In anticipation of the Township Annual Meeting in April, the trustees approved both the Town Fund Budget and the Dorr Road District Budget to be placed on file for public inspection as tentative budgets.

Beginning in March Township Clerk Quinn Keefe will be added to the agenda for a report of the Office of Town Clerk.

I reported the trustees' income incorrectly last month. Although the trustees wish they earned $307/month, they actually receive $110 for attending the monthly meeting.

Dorr Township residents are encouraged to visit the new website at http://www.dorrtownship.com/  Please note the new design, and click around through the various pages to become familiar with the content. A winter background would be nice in the top banner, or perhaps a banner that rotates between the seasons. Work is being done on the Calendar, so stop back frequently. Note the new "View Meeting Agenda" button below the monthly meeting information; this button makes it easy for you to find the agenda, which must be posted 48 hours before any meeting.

Bull Valley may be growing and Dorr Road District shrinking, thanks to plans of Loyola University (formerly, Resurrection Center). Sections of Country Club Road and McConnell Road may be transferred to Bull Valley for maintenance, if the annexation goes through.

Next township meeting: Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 7:30PM, at 140 Newell St., Woodstock.
