The popular Lakemoor gun show is moving to Crystal Lake. This Sunday, January 16, the show will be held at the Holiday Inn, 800 South Route 31, Crystal Lake. Show hours this Sunday (only) are 8AM-1PM (due to the Bears game). Other shows this year will stay open longer.
This is a place where you can look, touch, buy and sell. Be sure to bring your FOID card, if you are thinking of touching any gun.
Want to sell a gun? Get really clear on the correct, legal way to transport your weapon to the show. Strapping the old buntline special (whether it works or not) on your hip and walking in just isn't going to cut it with the Crystal Lake P.D. (or any of the other departments (County, State or Federal), whose officers might be lurking about). According to D&J Guns personnel, bring the gun unloaded and in the original box or some type of gun case. The gun will be inspected at the door, so that no loaded guns should be inside the show.
If you purchase a gun on Sunday, the three-day waiting period will be effective. The gun will be transferred to D&J Guns, 116 W. Rand Rd., Lakemoor, Ill., where you can pick it up at a later time.
The cost is a reasonable $5.00 per adult. The under age-17 set will be admitted free.
