If gas was 25 cents a gallon in 1955 and only 36 cents in 1972 how come its over $3.00/gallon now? I really doubt anyone was talking about a man on the moon before the U.S. space program even began. Since Volkswagens were in this country since 1949 they probably weren't much of a surprise in 1955.
