Free networking tonight

If you are interested in free networking for business or fun, be at The Other Place ... at the Elks tonight (Friday, Jan. 7) between 5:00-7:00PM. Located at 140 Cass St., Woodstock, just west of the Chamber of Commerce, tonight's 2011 kick-off will give you a chance to swap business cards and tell some tall tales.

It's kind of a mix between the networking groups hosted by area chambers of commerce (only free) and the Three-Minute or 8-Minute Speed Dating™ so popular in some cities (but without a $35 charge).

Sponsored by the Woodstock Chapter of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, you can just have fun or drum up business (or maybe even a date for Groundhog Day or Valentine's Day). With your attendance and support, this gathering can occur weekly in Woodstock and McHenry County. Bring money for whatever you order from the bar, and also check out the menu for a nice choice of meals under $10.

Be sure to drop your business card in the fishbowl, too. You never know what a card there might do for you.
