Let's hear it for the Huntley Fire Protection District! Boo...boo...boo...
Why would they need to "test" NIXLE? I have no idea. Why send a message reading "SMS test Email test" to hundreds (thousands?) of subscribers? And why not only to Huntley subscribers? Did it go County-wide?
Surely, NIXLE must have an internal testing arrangement, so that subscribers aren't bothered by "test" messages!
OK, OK, I know... I could unsubscribe. I know how to unsubscribe. It's more important, and more fun, to poke fun at idiotic procedures...
If you got one of those stupid test messages, write back to Ken Caudle at kcaudle@huntleyfpd.org, and let him know.

Re: your third paragraph. How else can you test to see if the NIXLE message is correctly reaching subscribers if you do not send them a test message?
For that matter, why test those emergency sirens every Tuesday morning at 10am too?
Why have those Emergency Broadcast System tests on the radio and TV too? These are bothersome as well.
