Bang-bang day in Chicago

Thursday night in Chicago. Thirteen shooting incidents. Seven dead; 18 wounded.

Maybe Chicago residents should tell Mayor Daley to stick it in his ear. Maybe they should just start carrying guns for self-defense.

A frequent expression among otherwise law-abiding citizens is, "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6."

Would there be a marked downturn in shootings in Chicago, if the gang-bangers had to worry about whether a bunch of people on the streets might start shooting back? Instead of hiring more cops, the City of Chicago could start training and arming citizens. Give them good guns with stopping power. Teach them to shoot straight and when to shoot.

When some punks do a drive-by, let the citizens open up on them before the punks get to the end of the block. I predict it would take about 72 hours for the word to get around on the streets that it's no longer safe to do drive-by shootings.

Someone told me last week that Chicago Alderman can carry concealed weapons, because they have been declared to be peace officers. Oh, really? Did they just do the gun course at the academy, if any of them even did that? Or did they take the full Police Training Institute? Or did they just declare themselves to be peace officers and strap on their guns?

Does anyone know?

Many thanks to a reader for this comment:

"I have been telling everyone I know about the unjust gun laws in the state of Illinois.
Yes, the Chicago Aldermen can carry concealed weapons because of their status as "officers of the court".
The best/or worst part is even if they are convicted felons and most of them are.
... it was common knowledge that they didn't even need a FOID card and No wait time.
Also common Knowledge was Mayor Daley carries a M66 S&W."

As a middle-aged woman, I have never owned a gun, nor have I ever used one. The only type of target I have ever hit involved archery using bow and arrow. For the past two years, however,I've been considering joining the Kalamazoo (Michigan) Rod and Gun Club, in order to practice and become comfortable a hand gun.Frankly, I do not know much about the differing states' laws with regard to hand guns, but I need to learn more about them.
Yesterday, I picked up a flyer printed from a local sportsman's club, which announced a Second Amendment Rally was to be held TODAY in Washington , D.C. from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. I'll be listening to this evening's news to see whether FOX news covers this, which I predict they will.

I say LAWFULLY arm the populace. Whether or not this is possible will be decided for Chicago this summer by the Supreme Court.

Secondarily, it seems everybody BUT those needing to become dead are made dead by these gang-banger idiots. They don't even know how to hold a gun in the first place!

So much is made of "children" killed by guns, but in the statistical analysis, the vast majority of "children" killing and being killed are age 15-18.

Nuff said. Granny, get your gun, as far as I'm concerned!

The Brady Center are concerned that if the remaining "non-carry" States of Illinois and Wisconsin are allowed licensed carry, that there would be a "whole lot of dead people".

Of course there will be! Within the the first year of legal carry, there WILL be a whole lot of dead gang-bangers and criminals.

Sniff!!! Boo-Hoo!!!! My heart BLEEDS!

No, Downby, there likely will be an overall decrease in violent crime in general and shootings in particular. That's been the case in those rural areas like Miami and the rest of south Florida and other enlightened states. Take a look at Arizona in general, etc. Guns have been available and carried by many for years. No problems and crime rates are generally a lot lower than Daley's kingdom or that Big A**hole called NYC. You see, the people causing the crime are generally cowards and the only reason they carry guns is they feel that baseball bats and knives don't give them enough of an edge over Grannie and the elderly. They want a safe bet. Well, they don't have the ba**s to ante up and sit down to a game of DRAW poker when they have no clue as to what their opponents are holding. We have more guns on the street right now than ever before in our history and crime rates, despite the economy are down the past couple years. IF the Chicken Littles in politics and the Liberal crowd were even close to being right, that would not be the case.
