The reporter on Fox News Chicago said last night that this was the same insurance as what the politicians had. Nearly fell out of bed when I heard that. Now I know that the local Fox reporters can't get their facts straight.
I've been wondering and even asking doctors how the federal government will "extract" a fine from the Amish of this country, all of whom are covered either under their own insurance plans, as well as by their fellow Amish brethren who pay a "tithe"(one tenth)of their income toward any Amish within their community when medical expenses related to a catastrophic medical illness exceed their insurance plan's payments. How's that for taking care of one another?
Not only do the Amish reject governmental assistance or interference of any kind in their lives, they refuse to send their children to public schools, but instead, educate them through the eighth grade, and then put them to work on the farm.
I'm not advocating the Amish lifestyle, but just point out the impossibility of the federal government to mandate their own health insurance program, much less levy a fine (tax?)on someone who does not want federal insurance. Where is the "choice" in that arrangement?
