Beth Bentley vanished about May 23, 2010.
I say "about" Sunday, May 23, because it's not really clear when or where she was last seen, following her youngest son's Thursday night baseball game in Woodstock. People saw her there and reportedly at the local Dairy Queen after the game.
After that, it gets murky.
The only recent news is the collapse of the prosecution's case against Beth's friend, co-worker, financial beneficiary and traveling companion Jennifer Wyatt-Paplham. A flimsy arrest on two felony charges by Woodstock Police Department fell apart in court last week, when Jenn's Public Defender's Motion to Dismiss the charges was granted. As it should have been.
Why the Woodstock Police charged her and why the State's Attorney's Office approved the felony charges should be a mystery to anyone who can read the statute, even if that person has no legal background. Short of Beth's walking into the courtroom and testifying, nothing would have persuaded a judge or jury of Jenn's guilt.
I believe Jenn knows far more than she has admitted. What will it take to get her to tell the entire story of that week-end and even of events for several months before May 20, 2010?
Is she fearful of talking? Has she been threatened? Does she know what happened to Beth?
There has to be more to the story than just "I dropped her off near the Centralia Amtrak Station and don't know what she was going to do." Yeah, sure...
