No quorum at Special Meeting

DISGUSTING - Franks gets free pass from GOP.

The efforts of many members of the McHenry County GOP failed this morning, when a quorum could not be counted at D'Andrea's Restaurant in Crystal Lake. A Special Meeting had been called and publicized for the purpose of selected two precinct committee people who, with McHenry County Republican Party Chairman Mike Tryon, would vote on Tonya Franklin's desire to represent the GOP in November and face off with incumbent Rep. Jack Franks (D-63rd).

Tryon opened the meeting and, after the Pledge of Allegiance, turned the meeting over to Mark Daniel to call the roll. The parking lot had given a preliminary indication of attendance, and as the call went on (and on and on) for a response from the committee person from each precinct, the absence of response for so many precincts did not bode well for meeting the quorum requirement.

There are 155 filled precinct positions in McHenry County. A quorum of 40% was needed. That's 62. Only 38 precincts showed up. That's 24.5%. Disgusting!

Among those not answering "Present" when the roll was called were Ken Koehler, John Jung, Jr., Tina Hill, Kathy Keefe, Andrew Zinke, Thomas Zanck, Brian Sager, Mark Gummerson, Rebecca Lee, Pamela Althoff, Sue Draffkorn, Donna Schaefer, Sandra Salgado, Barb Wheeler. Disgusting!

Among those answering or indicating "Present", whose names I recognized, were Virginia Peschke, John Hammerand and Nick Provenzo. Thanks for showing up!

The June 1st print-out of precinct committee people contained phone numbers for most, but not all, committee people. Unfortunately, many of the phone numbers were missing or disconnected. From an organizational standpoint, how can such a list not contain accurate and complete information? Might another 30 showed up, if they could have been reached?

Whose job is it to keep such a list up-to-date? It's not that hard! Periodically, you send an email to every precinct committee person and request an update on phone number. From the calling lists I saw, I estimate that 30-40% had incorrect or missing phone numbers.

During a phone bank last night, more than one precinct committee person told me that he hadn't gotten ten days' notice. So what? If you know about the meeting, you show up. Another was going to be at Harvard Milk Days? Milk Days is more important than beating Jack Franks?

The McHenry County GOP has given away this contest one more time. OK, what about 2014?

In thanking those who did show up, Tonya said that "under (Speaker of the Illinois House) Michael Madigan, we (Illinois) are the 47th worst state for business." Now there's something to be proud of! Not!!!

Tonya deserved better. She deserved to be given the chance to gather the required number of signatures and secure a place on the November ballot.

Did you beome a REPUBLICAN? I thought you were a "Greenie" or at least were in the last election.

How did you get in the meeting? You are not a TRUE media source. Piss poor security if you ask me.

Geez, Concerned. Take your meds.

I had a Press Pass. It read, "Not from the Northwest Herald."

I saw a bumper sticker once that read "Everybody is entitled to my opinion." So I'm printing yours, just so the public will know how wrong you are.
