This morning between 6:45-7:00 the telephone at the Woodstock Police Department rang unanswered. What do you do, when you call the P.D. and there is no answer?
If it's an emergency, dial 9-1-1. My call was not.
If you need the fire department or rescue in Woodstock, you can reach them directly by dialing 815.338.2621.
Dialing 9-1-1 routes your call through the emergency network at the McHenry County Sheriff's Department. As soon as the emergency operator understands your need, then she will transfer your call to the appropriate jurisdiction. By dialing Woodstock PD or Woodstock Fire Rescue directly, you save what could be vital seconds.
Unless the phone isn't answered.
Keep both numbers handy:

Woodstock Fire 815.338.2621
But in an emergency, don't get locked into "They must answer". Dial 9-1-1.

Turns out this was a local problem to my phone, although I don't know why I would hear a ringing sound as if the call were ringing at the PD.
The PD's phones have been ringing often this morning and are working correctly.
Once again you're wrong about how calls are routed. The MCSO does not answer for Woodstock, it goes by the MSAG ( mutli-Street address guide)
Cellular is answeed by the MCSO
The ringing is that empty space in your head..........
