Zinke website - misleading?

McHenry County Undersheriff Andy Zinke has a website created already for his political future. Maybe he needs some advice from his political backers or someone else to remove misleading references that have already cropped up on it.

For your reference, go to www.zinkeforsheriff.org

Now, see the tab for Endorsements and Activities. How will a viewer separate endorsements from activities?

And what do you do with the undated article from the Daily Herald?

First of all, is there a copyright infringement in the posting of a photocopy of a newspaper article?

Second, is that posted as an endorsement of Zinke? It's nothing more than a puff piece from a news release by Zinke (or his political campaign) that promotes a June 30 fundraiser. It is not an endorsement!

The reporter missed a few things. Zinke isn't kicking off his run for office with this fundraiser; he already "kicked it off" when he announced last fall - three years before the next regular election in McHenry County for the office of sheriff.

Zinke's boss, Sheriff Keith Nygren, is supposed to have told the reporter that by the time he retires, he will have served "in the police force" for 50 years and that he has loved every day of it. Yeah, sure...

In the 2010 election campaign I recall some question about how long Nygren had been in police work. Was it 38 years or 42 years? Let's go with "42 years". That would have got him started back in 1968. Add 50 years to that; you get 2018. Nygren is staying around until 2018. Will the 2014 race be Zinke vs. Nygren? How 'bout it, Keith?

And, just for record, Nygren wasn't "first elected sheriff in 1997". Did the reporter just get it wrong, or was she told incorrect information?

Nygren said Zinke will be the "best sheriff we ever had." Better than Keith?

I clearly remember a day back in September 2009 when Nygren wasn't loving it. That was in the Jewel-Osco parking lot in Woodstock. If looks could kill, y'all would have been going to my funeral three days later.

Under Endorsements on Zinke's political website are listed Child Advocacy Center, F.B.I. National Academy and Law Enforcement Torch Run. By combining endorsements and activities, does Zinke try to confuse viewers and cause them to think that he is endorsed by these three groups?
