Campaign sign stolen

A political campaign sign (mine!) was stolen late last week from the corner of Route 47 and Judd St. in Woodstock. Earlier in the week the sign was found pulled out of the ground but, at that time, the vandal wasn't brave enough to steal it.

His false sense of courage must have gained strength when no police report was filed, because he returned to the scene of the crime and stole the sign. My sign was the only one that appeared to be missing; many others are there. This time a police report will be filed.

I'll take that as a sign that the Nygren campaign is really worried about the result on November 2. And worried they should be.

McHenry County Blog reports (www.mchenrycountyblog.com) has reported that the Nygren campaign has not raised any money since July 1. The $73,324.17 question is, why not?

Is Nygren worried about backlash from contributors for taking money for a losing campaign? Are those who might donate worried that Keith will retire shortly after November 2, if he does win, and then take the money and run?

Today I was asked what will happen to the money in Nygren's campaign fund, if he loses or quits. My understanding is that he can keep it, but he'll have to declare it as ordinary income. He ought to be spending it, trying to win; but is he?

If you see any sign being tampered with or removed, call the police immediately. Try to get a license plate number.

They are just taking them because someday they will rank up there with the "I like Ike" buttons.

BTW did you get campaign buttons made also?
