Main Street Woodstock - in jail

Today I visited the office of Main Street Woodstock, which was formerly located on Main Street just across the parking lot from Classic Cinemas. Where is it? In jail. Well, not exactly "in" jail, but the office is now located in the office space in City Hall previously occupied by the Woodstock Police Department before it moved to 656 Lake Avenue.

How many business owners and residents of Woodstock really know what Main Street Woodstock is?

To learn more about this program, go to http://www.awaketowoodstock.com/ and scroll to the bottom. On the way there, read about some of the upcoming events in Woodstock.

Lucia Matlock has been serving as the Interim Executive Director of the Woodstock Downtown Business Association (WDBA)/Main Street Woodstock program. She has devoted three years as a volunteer and has even taken unpaid time from her work to attend out-of-town meetings. If this organization is to continue and to succeed, it needs to remove "Interim" from her title and appoint her as Executive Director and establish funding to compensate her.

Why should you get involved? Is there a reason you live in Woodstock?

Think about where you want Woodstock to be 10-20-50 years from now. Your efforts now will have a major impact on Woodstock's future and benefit your children and their children.

WDBA/Main Street Woodstock benefits not only from the participation of individuals, businessowners and the City, but also from financial contributions made by all three groups. It cannot and should not rely solely on City funding.

Hint to WDBA: Put membership information of the WDBA website. Make it easy to all to join in.
