Shot fired from hotel window

Many thanks to the people who are providing such valuable information about goings-on at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. Comments will be added later. Read the following email that I received today carefully.

“Let's talk Sergeants....Each Sergeant will be named by a letter of the alphabet.

“Beginning with Sergeant E. He's a fairly new Sergeant. As a matter of fact he's a fairly new police officer. Claim to fame- DUI's. MADD loves him. Claim to infamy, half his DUI arrests get dismissed. Local lawyers used to love crushing his probable cause and lack of evidence. Some how the video of the Field Sobriety Tests were always missing. More... okay, FBI SWAT school, Sgt. E shoots a round (45 cal) out of a hotel window. The round ends up in the car dealership across the street. HE COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE!! Needless to say, the FBI kicked him out of the school. What does this department do, VERBAL REPRIMAND and made him a range officer. Now he can teach people his fancy firearms techniques. What else, oh yeah...if Sgt. E asks you what size round your duty weapon uses be sure to say 45 cal. Sgt. E believes anything smaller is a "girl's gun". He says these things in front of female deputies and correction officers. DON'T YOU PEOPLE KNOW THAT'S SEXUAL HARASSMENT! You can't blame the guy. In the four long years he's been a police officer he's only had the sensitivity training once. Okay twice, the department is on the fast track to the 1990's. More...UFC, this guy's life is full of acronyms.. Yes he is a pit fighter, on and off the job. (That sport is becoming pretty popular at the department) Likes to brag about it, likes to implement it. Be careful, he's been seen using it on women and clothes lining motorist on the side of the road.

“I'll write you more later Philpot, I don't want to blow my load all at once.”

Please, someone; say it ain't so.

I think deputies are getting mad because they are not incompetent enough to get promoted. They need to start drinking more and screwing up if they want to have a future at the dept.. They have big footsteps to follow.

find the owners manual you fool said...

And if you do get caught remember to employ the universal 'get out of jail free' pass-first thing you do is show the responding officer your badge.

Giggles, do you think that mishandling a firearm and discharging it out a hotel window into a car sales lot should be overlooked or minimized?

Deputies are all ranks should be naturally held to a higher standard. They know the law. They should be first to obey it, not last.

Should a cop or deputy get a favor, just because he "badges" an officer who stops him? If anything, he ought to get TWO tickets, not one.

And I believe he is entitled to a Warning, if the officer who stopped him would normally have given a warning to a civilian violating the same traffic law. But not because he is a fellow officer.

I'm not bashing all cops. Yes, there are some bad apples. And you know what happens to the barrel, when it contains bad apples.

Deputies and officers cannot speak out within their departments. If they do, they are insubordinate. They might be violating a written policy that is legally wrong, yet it is still the policy. And it will remain the (illegal) policy until someone stands up and risks challenging it.

Thanks for commenting today.

To Giggles and everyone else,

It's not anger, it's frustration. I'm glad someone else is talking. It's not enough though. I know there a lot of deputies that feel like this. I talk to them regularly. I also know General Orders prevent you from using your real names and you will be disciplined if you draw attention to the inequality. Take that frustration and go to the "outside agencies", FBI, ISP, Attorney General's Office, EEOC, IDHR, ACLU. I think maybe The State's Attorney would be willing to hear from you, too. They've already fired me for doing that. And I've brought the heat. They won't do it again, if they do I know a lawyer. He's doing pretty well. The badge reads "Protect and Serve". That refers to the public not the department.
